For most group programs, an overnight in Hiroshima produces a better experience than a day trip. Arriving in the afternoon allows time to visit the Peace Memorial Park without time pressure, and spending the evening in the city — which has an active restaurant and bar scene — gives clients a fuller picture of contemporary Hiroshima. Miyajima, best visited at low tide to see the torii gate standing in water, works naturally as an early morning excursion the following day before continuing toward Osaka or Kyoto.
Day trips from Osaka are feasible and popular, but they typically result in 3 to 4 hours of meaningful site time after accounting for Shinkansen travel. For a destination of Hiroshima's depth, this is a compressed experience.
