The 2027 Japanese Grand Prix now has a date: 9 to 11 April 2027 at Suzuka, and for the first time the weekend includes an F1 Sprint. Formula 1 published its 2027 calendar on 16 September 2026, with 24 rounds and ten Sprint events. For an agent, a dated race is a product that can be sold, and the window to secure rooms and tickets has started. Our Japan team sets out the confirmed facts in its guide to the 2027 Japanese Grand Prix dates and first Sprint. Here we look at how a group programme is built around it.
The Facts Agents Can Quote
- The dates. Friday 9 to Sunday 11 April 2027, round four of the season.
- The calendar around it. Japan sits between Australia, one week earlier, and China, one week later.
- The Sprint. Formula 1 runs ten Sprint events in 2027, up from six. Japan is one of them, so the Saturday has a short race as well as qualifying.
- Tickets. Suzuka Circuit has announced that 2027 tickets go on sale on 15 November 2026.
- The long view. Suzuka's contract with Formula 1 runs to 2029, so a client who enjoys the race can come back.

Why the Sprint Changes the Package
- Every day has a reason. With a race on the Saturday as well as the Sunday, a three-day ticket is easier to justify to a client.
- Less free time at the circuit. A Sprint weekend has a fuller timetable, so side trips fit better before or after the race than during it.
- Session times are not out yet. The detailed timetable follows later. Transfers should be planned against the published times, not against an earlier year.
Building a Programme, Not a Weekend
- Sell the week. A race trip of three nights is hard to run and worth less than a longer programme. Add a city stay before or after the race.
- Plan for spring crowds. Early April can overlap the end of the cherry blossom season in central Japan, one of the busiest weeks of the year.
- Book rooms early. There are few hotels near the circuit, and most groups stay further away. Rooms come under pressure as soon as a date is known.
- Combine with another destination. Clients who fly a long way for the race can add a second country on the same trip. We plan Japan alongside Thailand, Korea and New Zealand.

What to Do Before 15 November
- Collect client interest now, with names, numbers and preferred ticket type.
- Confirm rooms against the new dates.
- Prepare ticket requests for the release day, when the best grandstand seats go first.
- Brief clients that hospitality and grandstand inventory comes through official channels.
