What Is Confirmed, and What Is Not?

Construction. Snøhetta says major construction is set to be completed in late 2026.
Opening. The city's target is September 2027. It is a target, not a published opening night.
Artistic lead. In July 2026 Busan extended conductor Chung Myung-whun's contract, so he can lead preparations and help curate the opening festival.
Not confirmed. A performance by Milan's La Scala at the opening festival has been discussed. No decision has been announced.

What Does It Mean for a Group Programme?

Build the rest now. Hotels, coaches, guides and the Busan sightseeing days can be confirmed today for 2027 departures.
Hold one evening flexible. Add the performance once the season and ticketing are published, rather than promising a show that has not been announced.
Expect demand. An opening season can sell quickly, so clients should know a seat is not guaranteed until it is booked.
Pair it with Seoul. A Busan stay sits easily after Seoul by high-speed train, which keeps the culture element to one or two nights.
