What Makes a Triathlon Group Different
- Every athlete brings a bike. A hard bike case takes up the space of about two suitcases, so the vehicle is chosen by the number of cases, not the number of people.
- The race decides the arrival day. Athletes want two or three days before the start to rebuild the bike, ride part of the course and get used to the heat.
- Race morning starts before dawn. Transfers to the start and the bike check-in have to fit the organisers' schedule, not the hotel's.
- Not everyone races. Partners and families who come along need their own programme on race day.
Mixed Abilities in One Club
Clubs rarely race the same distance. Besides the main race, the Laguna Phuket Triathlon lists a team relay, a sprint triathlon of 0.5 km, 20 km and 6 km, and a duathlon, so newer members can race the same weekend as the club's strongest athletes.
