China is Korea's largest source of visitors, and the groups from there are won or lost on paperwork and guides. Our Korea team sets out the destination side in its briefing on Korea for groups from China. This note is for the agent: what to confirm before quoting, and where these groups need care.
The Market Is Large and Growing
- Arrivals. Korea counted 4.82 million visitors from China from January to August 2026, up 29 percent on the same months of 2025.
- Overall. Total foreign arrivals passed 15 million in the same eight months, a record for the period.
- What it means. Demand is strong, so guides, coaches and good restaurant slots tighten early.
What to Confirm Before You Quote
- Entry for groups. Group travel from China has run through travel agencies designated by the Korean government.
- The visa-free pilot. A temporary visa-free scheme for Chinese groups began on 29 September 2025, with a published end date of 30 June 2026. We found no announced extension, so treat its status as something to confirm for each departure.
- The fee waiver. The group visa application fee waiver for six countries, including China, has been extended to 31 December 2026.
- Wording. Quote entry as "subject to the rules in force at departure", and keep the confirmation date in the file.
Guides, Language and Timing
- Mandarin-speaking guides. Most groups need a licensed guide who speaks Mandarin, and the pool is smaller than demand in busy weeks.
- Peak weeks. China's National Day Golden Week in early October and the Lunar New Year period are the heaviest. Request guides as soon as dates are firm.
- Written materials. Programme notes and signs in simplified Chinese help every guest and cut questions on the road.

Payments, Shopping and Jeju
- Mobile payments. Many shops in tourist areas take Alipay and WeChat Pay, but not every restaurant does. Check each meal stop rather than assuming.
- Shopping time. Cosmetics, fashion and duty-free are often the main reason for the trip, so build shopping hours into the day rather than squeezing them in.
- Jeju. A popular island add-on, with its own entry arrangements for some travellers. We check them for each group.
How to Position the Quote
- Lead with the confirmed items. Guide language, hotel and coach are firm; entry rules are confirmed per departure.
- Name the busy weeks. Tell the client early if the dates fall in a peak, because guide and coach supply is the limit.
- Keep the programme balanced. Pair shopping with palaces, food and one cultural activity so the days do not feel repetitive.
Why It Matters to the Agent
Korea is close, flights are short and frequent, and the mix suits both family groups and company incentive trips. The risk is a quote that treats entry rules as fixed when they are not. A quote that names what is confirmed, what is subject to the rules at departure and who the guide will be keeps the client informed and protects the margin.
