A Paju culture day for groups adds galleries, a striking library and a calmer pace to a trip north of Seoul, and it fits on the same day as a DMZ visit. Our Korea team covers the venues in its Paju, Heyri and Book City guide. This note is for agents building it into a group programme.
Why It Works for Groups
- Close to the capital. Paju is about 45 minutes by coach from central Seoul in light traffic, longer at weekend peaks.
- Heyri Art Village. A community of galleries, small museums, studios and cafes in low modern buildings, started in 1998.
- Paju Book City. A publishing district whose Forest of Wisdom library has shelves about 8 m high.
- A lighter theme beside the DMZ. Most DMZ tours visit sites in Paju, so the culture stops balance a serious morning.

How to Plan the Day
- Pick two or three venues. Heyri is too large to see in one visit, so we choose galleries and museums that suit the group.
- Check the closing day. Each venue sets its own hours, and many close on Mondays.
- Keep Book City short. An hour or two is enough, and the library is indoors if the weather turns.
- Book lunch. Small cafes cannot seat a coach group, so we reserve a restaurant in Heyri or nearby.
- Study groups. Students of design, architecture or publishing can follow a set theme.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Paju and the DMZ be done on the same day?
Yes. A DMZ visit in the morning and Heyri or Book City in the afternoon makes a full day from Seoul.
Is a Paju culture day suitable for senior groups?
Yes. The walks are short and level, and the coach can move the group between venues.
How long should a group spend at Heyri?
About half a day for two or three venues and lunch.
