Dongnae hot springs suit groups as a short wellness stop in central Busan. On 1 October 2026 the Ministry of the Interior and Safety named the district Korea's fourth official hot spring city. It is on Busan Metro lines 1, 3 and 4, so a bath fits a city day. Explera DMC books the venue, coach and guide.
Busan programmes usually lead with the harbour, the beaches and the markets; few clients know the city also has one of Korea's oldest bathing districts. Our Korea team covers the news in its Dongnae Hot Springs guide. This note is for agents fitting a bathing stop into a group programme.
What Does the Designation Mean?
- Fourth in Korea. Dongnae follows Suanbo, Onyang and Bugok, which were named together in 2023. The status makes the district eligible for government funding for hot spring tourism.
- The water. It is reported at up to 70.3°C and rich in silica, with about 1,400 years of local history.
- Plans, not products. A healing centre, a public thermal relaxation facility and a festival are planned. None can be booked yet.

How Does It Fit a Group Programme?
- No transfer day. The district is in central Busan on Metro lines 1, 3 and 4 and the Donghae Nambu Line, and a coach reaches it easily.
- One to two hours. That is enough for a bath and changing, best after sightseeing and before a group dinner.
- Wellness and senior groups. A warm bath rests tired legs after a day on foot.
- The rest of Busan. A harbour, temple or market morning sits well before an afternoon bath.
What Should Guests Know Before Travel?
- House rules vary. Bathing is often single-sex, and each venue sets its own policies on tattoos and swimwear. We confirm the rules and put them in the guest briefing.
- Shower first. Guests wash before they enter the bath.
- Capacity and hours. We check group size, opening hours and changing space with each venue before quoting.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a hot spring city in Korea?
It is a designation from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety that recognises a hot spring district and makes it eligible for government funding for hot spring tourism. Dongnae, named on 1 October 2026, is the fourth.
How long should a group spend at Dongnae?
One to two hours covers a bath, changing and a short walk, so it fits an afternoon or an early evening.
Can groups book the new healing centre or festival?
Not yet. They are city plans, and we quote only venues we have confirmed directly.
Is a bathhouse visit suitable for every guest?
It is optional. Guests who prefer not to bathe can rest at a cafe or walk the district while the others bathe.
