Thai Vietjet Air began a daily Kuala Lumpur–Bangkok flight on 9 October 2026, linking KLIA Terminal 2 with Suvarnabhumi on a Boeing 737-8. Explera DMC's advice to agencies in Malaysia and across the region is to confirm seats with the airline first, then build transfers, hotels and touring around the published times.
Malaysian travellers have a new daily option into Bangkok. Our Thailand team covers the launch in its briefing on the Thai Vietjet Kuala Lumpur–Bangkok flight. This note is for agencies in Malaysia and across Asia that send groups to Thailand.
What Did Thai Vietjet Launch?
- A daily flight from 9 October 2026, the airline's first direct route to Malaysia, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
- VZ681 leaves Kuala Lumpur at 15:15 and lands at Suvarnabhumi at 16:30. VZ680 leaves Bangkok at 11:00 and lands in Kuala Lumpur at 14:10, both in local time.
- A 189-seat Boeing 737-8. TAT reported 171 booked seats on the first flight, a 90 per cent load factor on each sector.
- KLIA Terminal 2 is the Malaysian end of the route, according to Bernama.
Why Does It Matter for the Malaysia Market?
Malaysia is one of Thailand's largest source markets. TAT counted 3,006,730 Malaysian arrivals between 1 January and 7 October 2026. A daily flight into Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok's main international airport, gives agencies one more Kuala Lumpur option for groups that tour the city or connect onward.
The airline and TAT are also hosting representatives of 12 Malaysian travel companies on a familiarisation trip from 12 to 16 October 2026, covering Bangkok, Ayutthaya, Nakhon Pathom and Samut Songkhram. Bernama reports that the airline would consider more frequencies based on demand and is looking at other Malaysian cities. Neither is scheduled yet, so do not quote them to clients.

How Do Agencies Plan Groups Around the Times?
- Late-afternoon arrival. Plan an airport transfer and a light first evening, with touring from the next morning.
- Morning departure. The 11:00 return means an early hotel checkout and a transfer to Suvarnabhumi on the last day.
- Middle days. Day trips to Ayutthaya or the floating markets of Samut Songkhram fit between the two flight days.
- Seats first. Confirm fares and seat availability with Thai Vietjet Air or your consolidator, since schedules can change.
- We do not book flights. Our Thailand team sets transfers, hotels and touring to the flight times you confirm.
