Universal Cool Japan 2027 for Groups

The short answer

Universal Cool Japan 2027 starts at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka on 2 December 2026. Sailor Moon runs first, to 5 April 2027, and The Apothecary Diaries follows from 10 February to 30 June 2027. Explera DMC plans Osaka groups around it with early park tickets, weekday visits and hotels close to the park.

Anime is one of the easiest reasons to sell Japan to a family or a fan group, and USJ has just handed agents a dated one. Universal Cool Japan 2027 brings Japanese titles into the park for a limited time, starting in December. Our Japan team covers the details in its Universal Cool Japan 2027 note. Here is how we would use it.

What Is in Universal Cool Japan 2027 So Far?

Sailor Moon opens it. From 2 December 2026 to 5 April 2027, a 4-D theatre show first shown in 2022 returns in a deluxe version.
A new story ride. Hollywood Dream – The Ride runs a Sailor Moon story version for the first time.
A second title is confirmed. The Apothecary Diaries follows from 10 February to 30 June 2027, its second collaboration with the park.
More to come. USJ says it will announce further titles, plus dates for themed food and goods.

How Would We Plan a Group Around It?

Pick the title, then the dates. The two runs overlap from February to early April, which suits a fan group that wants both.
Stay clear of the peaks. The Sailor Moon run covers New Year and the spring school holidays, so we steer groups to weekdays where we can.
Book tickets early. We secure park entry and any timed attraction entry as soon as dates are fixed.
Keep the hotel close. A hotel by the park or on a direct rail line makes an early start easy.
