Busan received 2,927,674 foreign visitors from January to July 2026, up 46.1 percent on the same months of 2025. Taiwan sent the most, then China and Japan. Explera DMC now asks for Busan hotel blocks, coaches and language guides as soon as a group's dates are firm.
For years Busan was the easy half of a Korea programme. Seoul got booked first and Busan filled in around it. Busan foreign visitors in 2026 have changed that, and the numbers explain why. Our Korea team has written the Busan visitor surge briefing. Here is how we read it across the group.
How Many Foreign Visitors Came to Busan in 2026?
- The total. 2,927,674 foreign visitors from January to July 2026, up 46.1 percent year on year.
- The markets. Taiwan was first with about 605,000, China second with about 594,000 and Japan third with about 340,000.
- The pace. Busan passed 3 million foreign visitors for the first time in October 2025. In 2026 it was on course to reach that mark about two months earlier.
Why Does This Matter for a Group Quote?
Because the same hotels, coaches and guides now serve far more people. Haeundae, Seomyeon and Nampo hotels fill sooner around weekends and holidays. Taiwanese and Chinese groups also want Chinese-speaking guides, and the good ones get committed early. A request that came in six weeks out used to be fine for Busan. On busy dates it now is not.
What Do We Do Differently Now?
We hold hotel blocks and coaches as soon as dates are firm, not after the Seoul nights are settled. We start sightseeing days early and put the busiest viewpoints at quieter hours. And we use day trips such as Gyeongju to take pressure off the most crowded Busan days. If you are pairing Busan with the east coast, our post on the Busan to Gangneung KTX-Eum covers the rail side, and the K-Tour Pass for Busan helps on free days.
